both… and…是个并列连词，意为“既……又……，……和……”，那下面归纳下both and的用法。

both… and… 连接的两个成分必须在形式、时态、词性等方面完全一致，可以是形容词、名词、动词和句子等，一般语法结构如下：
both+形容词+and+形容词
both+名词+and+名词
both+句子+and+句子

She's both ptetty and clever.(连接两个形容词）
她既漂亮又聪明。
I spoke to both the Director and his secretary.(连接两个名词）(NOT I both spoke to the director and his secretary)
我对经理和他的秘书说。
She both plays the piano and sings.(连接两个动词)(NOT She both palys the piano and she sings.)
